Sorry I thought my profile would show what bike I have. SteveD is correct, it is a 1973 75/5 with drum brakes. It looks like lubrication in the right amounts and in the right places is the solution.
Thanks

Stiff Front Brake
My front brake is stiff and hard to pull which means I hesitate using it when stopping normally. Any ideas on how to fix this? Would spraying something down the cable work?

Re: Polishing Aluminium
Thanks to all for the information. The bike really needs a good polishing. I agree that eventurally it will dull however having a good base starting point makes it much easier to keep up with. When done I should be able to show pre and post pics.

Re: Best time period apparel
Coolness is mystifying. You either have it or you don't. Having it isn't entirely straightforward either. Being cool means breaking the rules, but only so much. so my coolness will be breaking the rules and wear vintage but yet functional clothing on my classic and very cool bike.

Re: Best time period apparel
I can see that some read my post and others really didn't. Seth, thanks for your reply and that is a great looking jacket that although not leather it fits the bill. I never said that I was willing to sacrifice comfort, form or safety. Second coming or retro look opinion is irrelevent to my question...

Best time period apparel
Since purchasing the R75/5 I have been looking for the best leather jacket and helmet to wear that matches the era of the bike but still provides a current level of protection. I think you know where I am coming from here. I don't want to wear colourful crotch rocket gear riding around on a classic ...
