Re: Did I install my rear main seal too deep??

UPDATE....yes, 1mm is enough to make the RMS leak, and quite substantially. Tore back down, installed another seal with the tool from Boxer2Valve, buttoned back up and she is now as intended:)

Did I install my rear main seal too deep??

So I replaced my RMS in my 76 R75/7 with the cycle works tool. BUT I didn’t use the washers under the bolts...careless oversight. The RMS is seated a mm or so under the lip of the case and not flush. Will this leak? Should I pull the seal out and start over? Please advise. I already have the flywhee...

Re: Right side engine noise....normal?

FIXED!! OK so popped off the cover to see if we could pinpoint the noise while she idled, and still wasn't totally apparent, we decided it was the rocker arm. Pushrods and tubes are great and centered, tappets are in spec. After the 3rd attempt at these rocker arms, she is now operating as she shoul...

Kurt in S.A. wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:42 pm Have you checked the up/down movement of the rocker arm? There should be no excess play, really only see some oil film movement.

Kurt
Yeah the rocker arms are as they should be, I can barely move them at all, nice and tight.

Right side engine noise....normal?

So I have watched TONS of videos of engine noise and most are louder than mine, but I am still a little paranoid. Does the right cylinder sound "normal" to you? Left is much quieter. Both are in spec as far as valves and rockers, just rechecked yesterday. Bike runs very well, I just want t...

Re: Renthal handlebars

I wanted a flat bar, so I had to go with a 7/8 bar (couldn't find an actual 22mm flat bar anywhere). I measured and taped off where the controls would line up, and simply used my grinder to remove a little material to get them to fit. Only took 20 minutes and I am pretty pleased with the result.

Re: Brand new issue….won’t idle down?

Well the culprit is a stripped screw. The tiny left screw is stripped and just spins:/ Headed out to hunt for tap 4.0 mm X .7 thread pitch. You shouldn't need to drill the hole. Peen the other end (break up the last thread) to keep it from unscrewing and ending up in the cylinder. Yup this is what ...

Re: Brand new issue….won’t idle down?

Found it! Your throttle plate has slipped in the shaft. Loosen both screws and move it around until you can get it all the way shut. Then tighten both screws while holding it shut. The best way to do this is to fully back off the throttle screw and hold the arm closed while wiggling the plate aroun...
