Brand new issue….won’t idle down?

Yes, the idle screw. I neglected to mention that because I'm usually dealing with a nearly bare carburetor body when I'm dealing with those tiny screws.

Do not back the screws all the way out. They hopefully were peened in and taking them all the way out will rip up the threads in the shaft. I usually dremel the ends of them before I pull them, but even then there can be a problem.

Quick question, and it may be really stupid, but by throttle screw you are referring to the idle screw, correct? I am brand new to Bing carbs as. Am used to Mikunis

There are 2 'idle' screws per carb.

The one the throttle arm rests on when the throttle is closed is the throttle stop screw, It holds the butterfly open a bit to adjust the idle speed. Back it off all the way when you attempt to center the the butterfly in the bore.

The other is the mixture screw, to adjust the mixture.

Well the culprit is a stripped screw. The tiny left screw is stripped and just spins:/

4.0 mm X .7 thread pitch. You shouldn't need to drill the hole.

Peen the other end (break up the last thread) to keep it from unscrewing and ending up in the cylinder.

If worse comes to worst, a new shaft and screws is less than $20.
