Stromberg may be okay but I would recommend staying away from anything from China. I purchased a set for my R100 on ebay. The diaphram was noticeably thinner while the o-rings seemed okay. I decided not to use it. I was given a refund minus shipping and told to throw the kit out.

Re: Recommended tyres for R100R
I would highly recommend Avon Roadrider MKII. Excellent handling for spirited riding and great wet weather traction IMHO. Often difficult to find stock which may be indicative of their popularity. Generally reasonably priced too.

Re: Wheel bearing cover gasket (R50/5)
I couldn't find a protractor so I measured distance b/w the holes. The round gasket holes were either 39mm apart or 42mm while the actual bearing cover was 41mm b/w all holes.

Re: Wheel bearing cover gasket (R50/5)
Sorry 'bout that Kurt. I misunderstood what you were asking. I'm going to look for a protractor ..... and will report back.

Re: Wheel bearing cover gasket (R50/5)
So where is the problem? Are the hole centers not symmetric on the wheel or on the gasket? Kurt The problem is that the holes do not line up when I installed the round gasket (as you can see in the second image). This is what I received from a BMW dealer with the correct part number. I have now ord...

Re: Wheel bearing cover gasket (R50/5)
I just checked Meyers and their 0430 is the same as one I got from BMW. The other number ending in 2523 shows the EME version and states that its for R60/6, not a /5.

Wheel bearing cover gasket (R50/5)
Hello all. I've run into a problem sourcing the front and rear wheel bearing cover gasket for a R50/5. I ordered two from a local BMW Motorrad dealer; see first image below. As you can see in the second image it doesn't fit. The third image shows the EnDuraLast version (which I have now ordered from...

Re: '58 R69 versus '65 R69S
Thanks everyone for their input. I would agree that rarity trumps specs and have decided to keep the '58.

Re: Cly head re trnsioning
According to BMW, the head nuts should be loosened and re-tensioned at each full service. Have to confess I don't do it every time but fairly regularly. There is certainly a lot of anecdotal evidence that cylinder stud threads can pull out. Not sure why this is... the threads are well within spec f...

Re: Side stand extender recommendation for /5
I never thought about that. The tires were put on just before I bought the bike by the PO. They pretty much look like off road tires (see image) - Dunlop Gold Seal K70. According to the Dunlop site they are also used for dual sport applications. The thickness of the tread could very well account for...
