Re: Instrument shrouds
I've used Dowsil 732 with success on glass and 'eyebrows' on the instrument cluster. Stays flexible so not permanent.

Re: R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
Thanks for your continued input but I can only report what I did and what the outcome was. Unlikely maybe but that is the only thing that made a difference.

Re: R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
Thanks. Timing was correct and it failed to blow a fuse when the harness was bypassed and when plugs were removed. So, I decided to go back to a poor or bad ground. My good friend and fellow Canadian biker Brett suggested that I replace the ground from the battery to the transmission. After much sea...

Re: R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
I've sourced 10A fuses and will use those for now. This bike was originally without fuses.
So, what else should I check? I'm at a loss.

Re: R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
As an update I have checked the ground wires (coil and transmission) and cleaned up same with emery cloth. None were overly corroded. I also used emery cloth on the starter solenoid connection and each spade connector on the starter relay. Same issue when I tried to start it.

Re: R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
Thanks Rob. My answers are as follows: What actually happens when you try to start the bike... does the fuse blow immediately? No. Does the engine turn over slowly before the fuse blows? Yes. It turns over, usually for a few seconds, before the fuse blows. Does the engine appear to turn over normall...

R75/5 blowing fuses when starting
I recently brought my '71 R75/5 out of storage. Against my better judgment I fitted it with an older battery which resulted in the engine turning over rather slowly. Today, when I tried to start the bike today, it turned over slowly and then stopped. All three indicator were off. Upon examination I ...

Re: Pannier frames identity.
I've got a pair of those racks that were fitted to an '87 R80/7. The fitment was good save for the bit that was attached near the tail light where the PO made his own bracket to secure same. Seems it was not made for this year and model.

Re: ethanol CH3CH2OH
Not sure where on Vancouver Island you're located but I buy ethanol free fuel at Vancouver Island Marina in Sidney. Bit of a walk on the dock with a 20l jerry can but well worth it.

Re: Starting a '68 R50/2
Thanks Kurt. Starting doesn't seem to be the problem. It's just the prolonged warm up. I will go through the process again. Coil I believe is new. I'll get to it after Easter.
