Re: Front Brakes, near Lock-up
Thank you for being so patient with me Ken. Here is what I've done (in sequence) to date. * Removed all hydraulic fluid. * Opened both holes in the master cylinder reservoir. * Replenished the hydraulic fluid. * Bleed the brakes. I understand that the master cylinder assembly creates hydraulic force...

Re: Front Brakes, near Lock-up
In an effort to focus this discussion, my two questions are .....
1. Why is my front brake master cylinder reservoir being pressurized?
2. How can this problem be resolved?

Re: Front Brakes, near Lock-up
Softie: The original brake lines were swapped out for braided SS versions about 2 years ago. I've owned the bike since 1991 and put the last 60,000 miles on the clock without a caliper rebuild. I'm not sure how that plays into the build up of pressure in the reservoir, but sounds like it should be o...

Re: Front Brakes, near Lock-up
First off, thank you for the reply guy's. I've gone through this once before and it was the case of the blocked tiny hole. So I was all set to clean it out again. What surprised me was the release of pressure this time. But I went along with the whole process anyway. I found the hole open (move the ...

Front Brakes, near Lock-up
1981 R100RS with 82,000 miles. I had braided lines installed 2 years ago and have admittedly not ridden more that 3,000 miles since. Yesterday coming up the driveway I noticed something was wrong. I stopped outside of the garage and then went to rolled it in using human power. As I was rolling it in...

Re: Hard to start when cold
A friend of mine had the same issues with his 1982 RS. I'm not sure he ever solved the problem, but I think it's in moth balls by now. Anyway, take off you float bowl's. With the bowl upright in your hand look at it's interior. You should see a small channel / port on the edge of one of the corners....

As far as I can tell they're not being manufactured any longer. I see them regularly on e-Bay and they fetch quite a sum.

IMO, It was a safety reason that the windshield was attached with plastic rivets.

Re: 77 R100s Clock Quit
I have a similar problem on my RS and am to cheep to have it fixed. I found OEM units on ebay but were also pricey. I did find suitable replacements when searching marine applications. D*#n if I can remember the manufacturers name though.

Re: My new RS rack extender patent No."helpyaself"
Very cool. I've made a similar shelf for the same reason. I was very concerned about the stress that contraption puts on those four screws holding the stock rack to the fiberglass seat shell. What do you think?
