Re: /5 stator housing

Whoops! Read R60/5 rather than what I've written above. It's a 1972 R60/5.

Re: /5 stator housing

I installed an electronic ignition in my R60/2 and I found that Moto Guzzi's of around the same time period used 105mm stators. You may want to give them a shot. REGARDS

Recommended in every case. I recommend the following:

Ditto macdaddy's comment. However, I recently swapped out my stock /5 Bosch lens for an R65 H4 lens designed for halogen lamps. The difference in the lighting pattern was a significant improvement over the stock lens.

Anti-seize Referral

A note to those interested: The 5United group on Yahoo has had a very good debate on the pro's and con's of anti-seize going on for several days. All you may want to know about thread lubricants.

Re: /5 headlight upgrade

I tried the bulb only up grade, but was unhappy with the light spread using the stock /5 lens. I did not see a great improvement over the stock setup. I then waited for an R65 reflector/lens/H4 to become available. I am very pleased with the latter outcome.

Re: /5 battery install

Appropriately sized batteries slip right into my SWB R60's battery holder from above. SWB batteries are a differnt spec from later bikes taking into account the 1 1/2" shorter drive line. I don't undertand the issue.

Cylinder Re-boring - R90S Remaining Issue

Thanks for all the replies. My friend has one question: where is the spigot measured to determine whether it is a small 97mm or a large 99mm spigot? Is it at the base or the largest point where it enters the engine case? As the bike was built in 10/75 he may be at the point of change over where BMW ...

Cylinder Overboring - R90S

A friend of mine has begun the process of restoring his 19975 R90S (built 10/75). He was advised that both cylinders required a .20 over re-bore, and he acquired the appropriate pistons along with other required parts in a single purchase several years ago prior to any machine work. One cylinder cle...
