Re: ST rear shocker ?
Several years ago I was also looking for a new mono-shock for my '89 R100RS. Tom Cutter of the Rubber Chicken Racing Garage recommended and only offers YSS shocks ( http://www.rubberchickenracinggarage.com/yss.html ). Ted Porter is also carrying YSS shocks ( http://beemershop.com/SUSPENSION_CENTER.h...

Re: Grips
I would get hand cramps from the Magura grips on my '89 R100RS. A fellow at the BMW rally in Salem, Oregon showed me the "Grip Puppies" he had on his bike. He had traveled from Ottawa and said he really liked them. I ordered a pair from California Sport Touring (I don't believe they sell t...

Re: spark plugs coils etc.
I run stock coil and plug wires on my monolever R100RS and NGK plugs (BP6ES) . Very happy with NGK plugs! :D I think all of the 80's airheads and later used the 5k ohm plug wires and if you wanted to step up to a premium wire you could go with these NGK's from Euro Motoelectrics: http://www.euromoto...

Re: 70mm BMW roundel
Snowbum discusses the roundels on this page: http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/roundel.htm Search for all entries containing 70mm. Kurt in S.A. Thanks, Kurt!!! I forgot all about Snowbum's page on the roundels. It looks like not all of the 70mm roundels from the auto division will work on the bike fuel...

70mm BMW roundel
The 70mm roundels on the tank of my monoshock R100RS are on their last run. The original roundel on the left side of the tank is beginning to chip and peel badly. The replacement roundel on the right side was not applied very well by a previous owner. So here's my question: are the 70mm BMW roundels...

Re: Weird Charging Behavior
I had been getting all sorts of weird readings from my volt meter, especially when traveling down rough roads on my '89 R100RS. Long story short - 3 of the 4 rubber diode board mounts had broken and had caused a strain on all 3 wires that fed thru the timing case cover, wore off the insulation on th...

Re: Monoshock kickstand-update
I took some time today to address the retracting kickstand issue that very much displeases me. :x I bent back the tab (it's on the far left side of the shackle and bent @ 90 degrees) that wouldn't allow the shackle to rotate, so that the kickstand will stay deployed and NOT snap back up while I'm tr...

Re: Monoshock kickstand-update
I guess I should have done a search for kickstands, I would have learned why the "spring plate" , part # 46 71 1 452 115 SHACKLE - LEFT, and item #6 in the diagram below, wouldn't rotate - the "tab" needs to be bent back so that the "shackle" will rotate. http://www.max...

Monoshock kickstand
I have one of those retractable kickstands on my '89 R100RS. If I have something strapped to the seat behind me it's getting to be a bitch climbing off the bike. It becomes a real balancing/juggling act getting my arthritic leg over and off, so that I can get the kickstand or center stand down. I'm ...

Speed bleeders - what do you think?
Do speed bleeders work well for bleeding the old brake fluid AND do they help rid the brake lines of trapped air? The last brake bleed I did I shot brake fluid thru the nipple using a large horse syringe. It was slow, but it worked. Would a brake fluid bleeder be a better choice over the speed bleed...
