Re: REALITY VERSUS FANTASY: THOUGHTS ON SCRAMBLERS

Hmmm perhaps not bravery, maybe stupid and reckless. It was bloody fun tho.
Road tyres for dry conditions, road tyres in mud with due caution. Mostly works.

Re: Airbox "propellers".

Having an angled end to the tube causes the oil droplets to flow together and be drawn off more quickly... al least, that's always been my assumption. Rob I think that would be part, or all of the reason Rob. Looking at Steve's pic I can't tell if it's right side or left of the airbox. If left side...

Re: Airbox "propellers".

Of more interest is the angle cut end of the tube. That concept only works for airflow across the tube, like the air tubes on the bottom of the carb slides. I don't see the benefit of an angle cut with airflow along the tube? The angle cut might induce turbulence to help mix the crankcase vapours w...

For centreing the tube as Rob says, for best practice least airflow restriction. Of more interest is the angle cut end of the tube. Re: speedo needle

Two teaspoons can be used to lever the needle off the spindle, which works quite well.
I think I learned that here years ago.

Re: Indicator working on and off. :-)

Ah Ha, bingo! Pulled the switch apart and got in there with electrical contact cleaner and moved the switch a bunch of times and now it's working like a champ! Sure glad I didn't take the route of pulling the switch out, not fun when it's cold and all the wires are stiffer than me. All those times I...

Re: What is normal blowby? 1975 R90/6

On the bright side, you've got a fresh top end.
A plastic bag on the end of the crank case breather hose will show/disprove blow bye, if you don't have a leak down tester.

Indicator working on and off. :-)

Gidday blokes, back at the coal face. Sept '81 build RS After bloody ages, it's time to fix my indicator switch. What I'm finding is the indicator switch will activate the flash can at a faster speed without the indicators working, but if I move the switch slightly back towards centre, I can get the...
