They have spots walking distance from the pub don't they? Checking the google view, there seems two immediate options. Straight edge of river Mitta Mitta side of bridge or the other side of the river Omeo side at the last corner. I guess just get there and see what's best left and available.

I can do a curry again...rice...buy grog at Omeo? I expect the market is cornered at the BDI and the prices set accordingly.

Long range forecast looks very promising.

The camping area immediately below the Blue Duck Inn is good and the prime spot at the northern end is normally available, especially if somebody grabs it on the Friday - my intention. There are other spots along the Mitta to the north, The Joker and Bundarra camping areas are names I recall. A pic from September when Jane and I visited:



I have always been able to find firewood along the dirt road that follows the Cobungra river, just a couple of hundred metres from the camp-site.



Yes, the pub meals are expensive - I'll be cooking. And yes, buy yer grog at the IGA in Omeo, though sitting by the river and having a pot or two of the pub's beer is always a pleasure.

Peter, it's one of my favourite spots. The hard part is having to choose between the three best motorcycling roads in the universe to get there from here - via Mt Wills, Mt Hotham or Mt Bogong. I particularly like the Mt Wills option, which has finally been fully sealed and never seems to have any traffic on it. I think they made it especially for me. You'd better come and have a look when that is the next thing to do.

It's the SR500 rally in Bethanga this weekend. People with bikes on trailers are gathering just 50 metres from my place and rain clouds are already brewing. We rely on the SR500 mob to bring us rain at this time every year. The bastards failed to deliver last year so they owe us a double dose.

Some pics I grabbed last year. This one looks elegant but painful. I wonder if he'll start it up this year.





This one is pretty cute, though could have done without the Nortonesque Yamaha on the tank. And note the bloke in the background. Now that's a proper Aussie, don'cha reckon?

It is posts like these that keep me coming back to this thread, even though I doubt I will ever see Australia in person.
