Gidday Steve. I'm looking forward to getting in a few 'escapes' in the summer/autumn period. I know Jeff is too, and there are sure to be others. I know you are required to plan way ahead because of your many commitments, so check your rosters and pitch a suitable weekend for the Official Oz Boxerworks Autumn Rally. I'll be there, gods willing.
In the meantime, Mal of Dubbo will be coming through Melburg and making his way north in the week after Easter and it would be great to catch up and explore some of our fabulous mountain roads (while keeping a watchful eye out for those Sireens, of course). Any other takers?

O yes, a keeper for sure. I am still completely smitten after nearly 12 years.
And how can you dare to ask that question, Ken? What would the wood nymphs think if you were to go gallivanting off to the other side of the planet, wooing a human female? The reception might be a bit frosty when you returned. The answer's 'no', by the way. The mould (mold) broke.

The boat thing up the river takes half a day...if they still do it.
Cradle Mountain is flash but can be expensive. A beer in the bar after dinner time can be interesting 'cause they feed scraps to local wildlife. Devils come out to eat, whilst their usual prey saunter right up next to them for a feed too. No idea if they still do that outside the bar though?
In the restaurant there, they chose where you sat. They seated customers onto group tables and forced you to be sociable. It's a lottery!
If you like a walk, the Dove Lake circumnavigation is a good one. I'm guessing the tracks are more defined by now. It's been a while since I did it. On the east coast, the walk into Wine Glass Bay is well worth it if the weather is kind.
What are your plans once you get back from Tassie?

Mal, I think it's just a matter of deciding whether to go CW or CCW.
Despite the implication in the above, the road up the guts is not that interesting. I did a CW lap of the map with my father 54 years ago (!) when a lot of the roads were dirt. According to my memory thingy the twistiest bits were on a side trip southwest of Hobart and the legendary road into Queenstown. I remember these particularly because I was so carsick. I've been there a couple of times since (hitch-hiking) but am yet to do it on a bike.
Bob and Doug have both been there in recent times and may have some recommendations.
