Okay, only a few sleeps now.
Jeff and I had a very nice, very gentlemanly, 'shakedown' ride yesterday, along the Omeo Highway towards Mt Wills. About 240kms round trip on some of the best roads in the universe, and nothing shook down. So all is good for the coming weekend.

Since Steve only has the Thursday and Friday to play in, the (still slightly vague) plan is that those of us who can will meet at the Dargo campsite on Thursday arvo. All going well this would be: Steve, Mal, Bob, Grant, George and meself, and possibly others. Steve is planning to leave for home on Friday so my suggestion is to shift camp up to Anglers Rest on the Friday where Jeff will catch up with us. We can head for home as circumstances dictate. I'll probably stay till the Sunday.

Ah, just spoke to Bob. With much regret, he won't be making it to this one. We'll have to have some extra fun on his behalf.

I'd like to do the thursday and catch up with Steve, but having just put the bike back together I wasn't sure where I was going.
I'll get to the duck on Fridee tho.

Sounds good and the weather forecast is dry too!
Grant and me will head up Thursday, come back Friday. I would love to do the BDI too but it won't happen this time.

I'm glad the two bikes are up and running after a few weeks of turmoil!

When we came down the road from Mitta Mitta a few weeks back it was a wee bit loose on the new bitumen. We were told eight bikes had come to grief the previous day. Take care when on that stretch.

over this trip.
But luckily that family lives in Tas and I'll be riding the bike down there again.

The ole RS is packed and pointing east in the shed as we speak there are no visible signs of nerve's showing so far to report of for its maiden ''overnight" voyage, it has been given a stern talking to about reliability issues, conservative fuel consumption, dropping into corners to quickly, excessive speed through long sweeping bends and most importantly overtaking newer black coloured RS's!!

Next time Bob and Jeff, bit of a shame that one!!, but there's always another day

One sleep to go. Mal called today from Ararat, heading towards Bendigo. George and I will be meeting him in Bright around lunchtime and should hit Dargo around 3 or 4. Could be earlier but we're lazy travellers.

The campsite I mentioned is one of four or so on the Dargo River, within about 5kms, starting 2 or 3kms once your are on the Upper Dargo Road. Sorry to be a bit vague - the point is that as we arrive it will be advisable to ride along that road for a bit to see if others have already arrived and chosen a good spot. Be mindful that it is school holiday time and it is a popular place.

While there, be sure to grab the opportunity to ride the tar as far as it lasts heading towards Mt Hotham from the Upper Dargo Road turnoff. It's 10 or 12kms of beautifully engineered twisties, very pleasant going up and going down, and it's perfectly ok to do it a few times.

Yep, that's it, Steve. A little wood gathering via bike, somewhere nearby. Keep an i open on your way in. A fire will be lit in the usual manner. Just fielded an apology from George for tomorrow, but he'll catch up with us at the Duck on Friday.
