Post by Wern2be »

Hozit Gents,

I have a BMW R100RT boxer motor but without a gearbox. I do have a complete gearbox from a R100CS will this work on the RT and can I do a straight swop? Please can you help with this.

The gearboxes from the light fly wheeled bikes produced in the 1982 and later model years will not fit the earlier bikes without modification, the input shaft of the gearbox is a different length and the clutch actuation mechanism is different.

The new clutch carrier/flywheel combos and transmissions started with the 1981 models.

Kurt is correct. 1981 is the conversion year.
