Battery for R75/5

Which battery would you recommend for a R75/5.
I guess much have happened since the 70s which my manual is from.
Gel, lead-acid...?? and how many Ah would you recommend?

It comes in the thin size the fits (important) my swb 1970 r75/5.
No complaints at all.

After seeing the posts, I checked again and this is an AGM after all.

Oddysey PC680 , they're AGM type...I have 1 going on 6 years running fine, 1 at 4 years, 1 at 3years....all good if you charge em up the right way.

AGM's are much less finicky than gels. Thus, I either go with the cheapest wet cell I can find, or I go with an Odyssey. I've given up on gels.

For something prone to falling over (GS's, for instance), I never go wet cell. My Oilhead has an Odyssey. My Suzuki DRZ400 has a lithium - which also is super light, but I wouldn't spend for one of those for a normal street bike. Where I live there's a long winter, so the fact that both lithium's and AGM's will better stand sitting without being used for long periods is important to me. If I lived somewhere with a year-long riding season, I'd be a lot more likely to run a conventional wet-cell in the Oilhead. My /2 held a wet-cell, but that was mostly because it just seemed wrong to put anything more modern in there.

When thinking about batteries and charging systems it's worthwhile to think about the consumption side of the equation.

An early airhead with a worn and Weak starter motor will suck the life out of most batteries on a cold start and the battery won't have time to recover if used on short trips. it can worthwhile to think about a new starter that will kick the engine into life much more quickly and really reduce drain on the battery at startup.

My motorcycle had a hard time recharging the gel battery ive used. Which kind of battery i best for short trips, are some batteries easier for the bike to charge?
