George,
I thought about that route too. I had found a really nice splitter on e-bay, but I waited too long and it disappeared. I will keep nosing around to see if anything good appears.

I think the single mcs have the other boss on the casting. You can always have the boss drilled and tapped for a fitting that your ss hose will connect to.

Re: Under tank Master cylinder size
speigler makes a "junction" line that might work.

BMW has a splitter that was made for the round-reservoir-master-cylinder R65s that came out the first couple of years. (Number Nine!)
You could probably pick one up cheap from a breaker.

I see a lot of splitters on e-bay, but they are all triple female fittings. I thought of drilling and tapping the other boss, but I am a little concerned in creating the inverted flare fitting correctly. I may try to make it pipe and buy an adaptor with male on one end and an inverted female flare on the other. if it didn't work I could then just put a pipe plug in it.
I will try the 16mm MC to see how it feels. I may be able to come up with something if that doesn't feel good. Another option I was thinking of is running a metal line from the single output of the original MC to a splitter mounted someplace close. I looked, have to figure out a good place to mount it, maybe slide the MC back and mount in front of it.
New rotors and pads arrived today, new lines on way too. I won't be doing this project for a few months yet. I want to do the front end with the new stuff and install the new fork top plate I've had for a year and a half, and pull the tranny to inspect all the splines.

Re: Under tank Master cylinder size
The R65 splitter is a 4-way female.
1 in
1 out
1 blocked off for 2nd disk
1 front brake light switch
FWIW
Any obtained from a breaker should come with the plug on the 4th.

Re: Under tank Master cylinder size
I received the MC rebuild kit Friday. I rebuilt it this afternoon. I was a bit disappointed with the official BMW kit. I had to stretch the seals over the piston and the silly kit did not come with the O rings that goes between the reservoir and MC. I had to use the old one and scrounge up another small one that went under the fastening screw area.

Re: Under tank Master cylinder size
I have experienced that disappointment. Paid AU$190 for that shitty little kit about 10 years ago and had to re-use old o-rings for the reservoir. After fitting the bar-mounted MC I sent them off to a Kiwi bloke a couple of years ago following a request on ADV.
I always intended to find a brake mechanic - one of those little old grimy shops with a little old grimy proprietor - where I'm sure there would be a suitably sized 'cup' seal somewhere, the important bit.
I mean, what could possibly go wrong with the metal piston? Why replace that? I'm still a bit pissed off with that kit. Grrr.

Re: Under tank Master cylinder size
Charlie, it seems that the design is working against us. Most auto designs call for a cup with no hole in the center being pushed by a piston. When I have seen designs that encircle a piston, such as caliper, the ring is an O-ring style, either round or square in profile.
I you go toward the seal style, then you would be better going to a bearing distributor checking the specs of available seals.
Silly me, I didn't bother to measure the seals before installation on the piston, I have reference books on bearings and seals.
After you said what you paid, I guess we have a better price structure here. This kit goes for about $70.00 with another $10 for shipping.

Yep, have a look at this - the kit is now AU$234 plus shipping.

This from our best mail order airhead parts place. Unless I want something very quickly I'll normally shop at Motobins in the UK. US parts are usually priced pretty well but postage is a killer.
There are benefits to living in Oz, of course.
