OZ get together this Spring?

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

You'll be right Grant, now that the brakes work. Mind you, have you done an advanced care plan? Just in case! ;)

Yep, the Norwegians reckon we'll be pretty comfortable and dry:

http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/Victor ... /long.html

I spoke to Doug of Yack on Thursday. He is now in a ward after 19 days in ICU, has walked unaided a bit but is still unable to swallow. He is still groggy (well drugged) and his throat is obviously rough from the breathing tube but he is happy and optimistic, mentioning a "new bike" and "a lot more road miles to do". He may soon be transferred to Albury Base Hospital - kind of poetic since he was on the design team for that in the 90s. At least he'll know how to find the dunny.

Two gearbox covers came back from the engineer yesterday with shiny brass sleeves in their clutch throwout bores. So I'd better get on with measuring for shimming and get my new box back together so we can get to The Duck on Friday.

Good news re: Doug. Glad to hear it.
I was at the Blue Duck Inn today. It was closed, but it was only 0945. Bugger all campers there, but a dozen of the shiniest Harleys you'll ever see.
The river looked full enough.

Is Pete coming?

Hi all
Not having done one of these extravaganzas, how much food do you bring?

I'll be in Canberra Thursday so will ride down to Adaminaby from Tharwa which has a bit of dirt, I did it 20 years ago on the 90S it wasn't too bad.

Whats it like going south from Corryong, or should i cross over to Talangatta & then down.

any other pearls of wisdom I need to consider?

cheers Mal

Corryong to the turn off before Tallangata that takes you to Mitta Mitta. The other way is dirt and lots of it.
Gas at Corryong, Tallangata or Mitta Mitta. There's nothing at the BDI except the pub, so after that the next gas is Omeo 30kms or back via MM or Mt Beauty if going over Falls Creek.

MM has great pies at the corner shop and the pub opposite is a pleasant stop for a raspberry to elevate the attention before heading off. Sealed all the way, tight and twisty in places, but generally relaxing enough unless you get tawts on lollipop bikes buzzing by or caravans and trailers.

Grant and me are gunna have a feed at the pub and bring stuff for later. There's usually a campfire and cooking whatever you bring. The campsite looked plenty green going passed it yesterday but it's very dry everywhere else.

I'm presuming a campfire is still ok.
