OZ get together this Spring?

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Yep, weather forecast indicates gentle conditions - no risk of a fire ban.

I normally take all food for the weekend. Nearest shop is Omeo, 30kms south. I'll be planning for two evening meals, two breakfasts and one lunch, plus snacks. I'l be grabbing a home-made pie at the Mitta store on the way up, and probably on the way back. Don't tell my nutritionist.

As Steve wrote, it's definitely advisable to go to the start of the Omeo Highway near Tallangatta, Mal. The Nariel Valley road through Benambra is usually badly corrugated, so not much fun on a road bike.

hmm other mal will check his maps and heed that road advice too! (and the pie advice sounds very worthy also)

I plan on leaving Thursday morning but have to show up for a days work (meetings actually) in Orange then pro'ly stop the night at a pub in Cootamundra. Then plan on heading over via Tumbarumba and Corryong .. then I refer to step 1.

I've stopped cursing the bike. Took it on a run yesterday and still behaving though motor feels a bit down on power and vibey so I rebalanced the carbs once more, they were a fair bit out, surprisingly. Hopefully my new leads and coil will arrive manana e manana ..

Mal S7 we shall mount your bike up on the cement picnic as exhibit "A" under the glow of Charlies lovely collection of LED's, suck back shit loads is booze for a few hours then one by one spin each other around and run at with a screw drive gripped tightly in the hand.... sort of like a weird, but technically advantaged pin the tail on the donkey game... Thanks Steve & Charlie advice noted, I’ll leave southern Canberra pretty early Friday. The pie shop will be perused.

From Adaminaby I’ll probably go through Corryong, almost Tallangatta, Mitta Mitta which works out around 430 kms with a bit of dirt.

I might meet you Mal S7, on the road down there somewhere, I’ll be on a silver, bikini fairing BM with a house lot of junk on the back.

That would be good, I haven't checked the maps yet but we will cross paths I am sure of it. Originally planned to leave from Canberra as I have a brother in Curtin but that would be too long a day to get there and he would make me drink too much red wine ...

Just sent ya a PM. If you see a black dusty /7 wheezing up a hill someplace wave me down!

cheers

I'll bring my "Grok's harmoniser" Mal. "It's not yer daddy's twin max". We can have a shot at tuning your carbs. It's a simple but very interesting device..worth a look.

When we get bored with that, we can all practice using Charlies detente spring tool.

Have we heard if Pete is coming?

Yep, Pete will be proceeding in a north-easterly direction on Friday morning on his blue/silver RS. He's got the choice of coming over Hotham or Falls Creek, or even via the Mitta Mitta pie shop if he makes good time. His GS is due back from the UK the following week, allegedly.

If Pete has a SD card with travel pix, I might be able to supply a projector! All we'd need is a white sheet. Might be fun?
