That is a brilliant explanation but I'll leave it 'til the next time ...or at least for a while. The disc really needs replacement and I don't have the bits from Motobins yet.

In and fitted, now to wait while the new pads wear into the half worn disc ..... really bad brakes for a while I guess !

Before I rebuilt my front brake, I called my disc "rings of Saturn".
I found a nice, affordable replacement disc from EBC, and went through the entire system, replacing all of the hoses and metal lines, pads, and all rubber bits. All, except for the caliper-halves sealing o-ring, which, for some odd reason, BMW does not supply for the R65s ATE caliper. A good fellow in California on the R65 forum ended up buying a bag of 200, or something like that, and was the forum supplier for a while.

While we're talking about front discs, has anyone tried these:

They tell me that they will fit on the original carrier and that it is just a matter of removing the bobbins and replacing them with the new ones supplied. Any thoughts?
