R90S Handlebar Master Cylinder Diameter?

Post by Abstruse1 »

I'm about to try a handlebar mounted master cylinder for my '76 R90S (twin ATE calipers). What size(s) of MCs seem to work best with the twin ATEs?

I have aftermarket disks that claim a higher coefficient of friction, but I don't have any actual numbers.

Thanx, guys.

I have 14mm magura handlebar mounted m/c with 40mm ATE calipers on my R100/7

Originally fitted it 12 years ago when I had a single disc set-up. When I went to twin discs I was worried I would have too much lever travel with the 14mm m/c but it works fine, relatively powerful braking. I have steel braided hoses and the system is well bled, new pistons and seals in the slave cylinders and brand new s/s discs (italian replicas from Motobins)

If I was doing it again though I would use at least 15mm m/c though, just for a bit more feel and to reduce the risk of lock-up, I have managed to do that, not thinking how hard I was braking, in the wet. It was simply not possible with the single disc set-up.

cheers
