This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Jeez Jeff, that's a bit of a narrow view.

It'll be good to see you Bob (and Dave), and from my perspective you can wear what you bloody well like, though Alison is a bit shorter than you. I hope your mum is ok.

I'll prolly get there Friday too. George of Bethanga is interested in coming as well, probably on his japanese thing.

I'm thinking about coming down there. Could any of you suggest what a rider might want to do there for a few weeks. I'm thinking Tassie might be interesting for a tour as well. Like to ride in NZ too. If I don't do it soon it might not get done.

Neil, I can definitely suggest late Feb to May as the best riding season. It's been 42C (108F) here today so not very pleasant for riding. In autumn you can expect mostly dry conditions with warm days and cool nights. The east coast hinterland including the Great Dividing Range is motorcycling heaven. Yes, Tassie too, I've heard. We of the south east mob will enjoy welcoming you, and maybe even organise a rally in your honour.

I think the first thing would be to come and apologise to my kangaroos for calling them rabbit camels.
Then I'm sure we could come up with thousands of kilometres of excellent riding. We could probably do it in miles if that helps.
You might like to do a combination of camping, pub or motel, and stay with various Oz Boxerworks members.
Do it man, you'll dig it!
Good idea Charlie, we could do a Zombie Rally!

Just beginning to approach this. A lot to check out, about Visas and such. Is April too hot?

April is a fine month to be anywhere in southeast Oz, or probably anywhere at all. In April I am thinking about firewood but the days are still warm. Think what north America is like in October. If you wanted to spend more time here you could head into the Deep North around then and find quite pleasant weather. The coast is much the same as any coast - variable, mostly mild weather moderated by the sea and often freshened up by rain.

April can be quite nice, not too hot and not too cold. All roads over the mountains are open at that time of year. Tassie would be ok too, but weather can be more unpredictable at that time.
The Great Dividing Range runs runs along the east coast, some places close to the coast and other places further inland.
There are lots of roads crossing the range with most excellent roads.

A good mix of mountain roads, coastal roads and inland roads would be tops.
Got to work out which places of interest you've heard of that you'd like to see and mix it all together.

The south east of Oz, basically from a couple hundred k's west of Melbourne, up to the New South Wales/Queensland border would be a great area to concentrate on. And that's where most of us Boxerworkers live.
