Hi Lee
A friend here has just completed restoring two R90S's, one the 74' was a real roughy, and a bit like the proverbial grandfathers axe. It now would place highly in any concours event anywhere.
I knew the bike in the 80's and it's owner then used to lean it up against a fence post out the front of our farm, because it had no stands.
This is one of the things about restoring motorcycles, they are a project of achievable size and complexity.
I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.

My 90S went thruogh a very bad fire. I could only recover the stainless exhaust, worth more than $1000 new, and still haven't had another older beemer to try them out on. I HATE FIRE!!!!!

Staintune at least $1400 now She'llbe! $2K for the full system. Unsure re: Overlander as his price list looks unchanged from years back...690/360. edit: just rang him..900/460, though price unconfirmed as he hasn't made them for a while. 3 month wait as o/s business for Japanese bike gear has gone beserk he said. She'llbe wrote:My 90S went thruogh a very bad fire. Re: BMW R90/s info
Hi I mentioned a few posts back that a friend here on the Aussie SE coast has recently restored (brought back from the dead) two R90Ss' a gold and a silver smoke. If you saw these either of these bikes before the restoration you wouldn't believe the transformation.
Re: BMW R90/s info
Well as we all expected it wasn't a R90/S. I told myself I wouldn't be disappointed if it wasn't but I was. It is a R90/6 the bike is kind of disassembled. It looks like it is all there but apparently the bike has a electrical issue and the guy has never seen it run. The motor did turn over while rocking the bike in gear so at least the motor isn't seized. The tank and seat look different from other pictures I've seen. The seat is a weird after market banana seat. But the bike would look great with a nicer stock seat. The question is it still worth buying. I've searched locally and on ebay. I can't see any other classic BMW bikes available in that price range. Here is a pic of other r90's with the same tank. I'm sure you guys could make sense of it.

Re: BMW R90/s info
I wouldn't resist for too long. The R90/6 is a great bike, a sort of bridesmaid to the 90S but much loved by their humans. These things are like grandpa's axe but with a few more parts. They are infinitely rebuildable, parts are readily available, there is an extraordinary volume of useful knowledge on the web and they are a real pleasure to fondlework on. And then you get to go riding ...
