Here is hoping that you are well and busy.
I am well and busy though I had a tough spring with some crud that just wouldn't go away. I was also under quite a bit of stress from my former employer dropping my medical insurance and me having to fend for myself. (It turns out that my former employer didn't drop me completely. It is contributing a not insignificant amount of money to the plan I chose.)

As I get older, in my introspective way, I see myself becoming less and less resilient. Had we gotten together at that time I'm afraid I wouldn't have been much good company.

back to the muffler question. I put mac whispertone mufflers on my 90/6. They are louder than I like. Bike didn't run quite right either. Went to the Bing seminar at Billings and they suggested I go up one size on the needle jet, of course they had them for sale. It really did improve the performance. Just saying, If you put less restrictive mufflers on, you may need to rejet.

Hi,

I used SS Keihan mufflers on my 1977 R100RS. I like them, the sound is a little deeper but very close to the original ones.
I did not realize that a muffler could have an influence on the carb settings. Thanks for that info.

Like a lot of BMW folks, I am not a fan of loud bikes, but many people are not influenced by what I like. There is something else to consider though. Of all the loud bikes out there BMW boxer motors are not anybody's favorite. They don't make a nice Potato-Potato-Potato sound like a Harley or any of the twins with 120 degrees between pistons. BMWs make a very unmanly Pop-Pop-Pop sound.

Me too, Torkwrens, But I must say, starting my 77 R100S makes my smile lift within a millimeter of my R100RS smile. :D
