1978 R100/7 Headlamp Access, I'm embarrased to...

Post by 0m3nc0w »

I'm embarrassed to even ask this but I've spent several hours looking for instructions on the web. For the life of me I can't figure out how to access the headlamp housing. I'm trying to replace the bulb and inspect the fuses... so I've unscrewed the little silver screw at the bottom and now it's loose but won't come out, and won't screw back in. I assume not that it's not an access screw but rather an adjustment screw.

Any help would be appreciated, my Haynes book is being shipped. I'd wait for it but I'm supposed to meet my brother for a ride in 4 hours.

On some of the early headlights, like my 74 R90/6 the ring was a snap fit. Go down to the bottom just to the right and left of that small cut out in the bottom center ,slip a flat blade and pry it apart to see if it pops off. Careful, the whole thing may jump off and crash on the fender.

And remember that a screwdriver makes an excellent chisel. I read that somewhere...
