R75/5 Needs Wings-Long Odd Post

Post by andyleonard »

I'm a long-time lurker here and have enjoyed my visits to the point where I trust this crowd with an odd circumstance and request for advice.

A college friend of mine just passed on and left his 14K R75/5 (I was with him on my R69S when he bought it new in Connecticut) to another friend who is a well-funded professional eccentric (and under no circumstance can be allowed to even consider riding it) with the following caveats: 1) Bike must remain operational. 2) Bike must have wings mounted. That's it. Wings and Operational. That's the whole deal. No more data.

So I guess if you consider that the donor (a rancher/poet/song writer/tech guru with good welding skills) spent a lot of time on the Playa at Burning Man and also consider that the new owner has lots of space to properly display a modified but operational R75, you can begin to address the problem.

I would happily receive suggestions as to what to build. Something - whatever - will be actually professionally constructed and it will be put on display.

BMW. Wings. Operational.

Thanks.

If there s no restriction on size have a look at the Archives an Roadracing World - a few years back there was something around that you fitted to the front end of racebikes for some reason------------.

Be nice if it were 14K gold plated, but no...it's mileage.

We're thinking we can meet the "must remain operational" specs of the gift if it can be ridden down to the corner at 25 mph with no one dying. But we need WINGS not stickers or badges. Like 7' carbon fiber Icarus style wings. Like that.

Do a Google Images search on "steampunk motorcycles" and add some wings.

Some guys were selling screw on versions of these things, and advertising them in Roadracing world.
