For those who have owned both K and R bikes

I'm having a bit of trouble with helmet noise at the moment , my ears seem to have become more sensitive as time has progressed .

So the question is , of the various bikes you have owned (or currently own ) which causes the least helmet noise at say 65mph /110 kmph ? I've seen some lovely looking fairings on a few of the Ks and wonder how good they are .

My current ride is bare R80 ST .....which I really like ,noise aside .

I don't know what a K bike is, but while each bikes presents turbulence in its own unique way, you should be able to correct the flow with the addition of windshield, and accessories. For example there is this company: Saeng. They make all kinds of products that can help like:

I have tried this edging http://www.saeng.com/product.php?id=581&category=80 with little sucsess. In fact on one of my windsheilds that dumped the wind on the top of my shoulders, the Micro Swirl generators made the noise unbearable.

I have owned K's, R's and Oilheads and the best sure fire method to cure "Helmet Noise" for me has been custom made ear plugs. Some object to sound as they ride. Me? I am ok with sounds. I just want the sounds I let in, that is why I wear custom made earplugs with speakers so I can listen to Tunes, Weather , Books on tape. I will admit I dont want to hear my GPS talking to me tho.

I went to the Motorcycle Expo last w/e Sibbo, here in Melbourne. They always have a stall where you can have earplugs made as you wait, and even with built in speakers. Last year they were around $150 a pair. Last w/e the moulded/fitted plugs with speakers were $250.

You can get the custom kits yourself online...much cheaper. Advrider had a thread on them a while back I think.

Looks like Steve has shown you the way!

Try talking to those who use them before you buy tho. Wearing custom moulded earplugs
is not for everybody.

I am currently useing the edging on my el-cheapo knock-off S fairing and it does punch about a 3" bigger hole in the wind, so it does do something, but not noise reduction.
