G'day Jonathon and welcome aboard. Got some pics of your R65 Dnepr to show?

For a specific question it's best to start a new thread here and include R65 Dnepr in the title. Hopefully this will engage the enthusiasm of 'gspd', the person most likely to be able to help. And if the question is about electrickery it'll be important to know if you have a wiring diagram for your model and (preferably) how the two electrical systems have been merged. Best of luck with it.

Cheers Airbear that sound good idea, I'm going away today until Sunday attending the Oddball motorcycle rally, so will start a new post on Monday with my question and more info about the project bike, I'm going to the rally on my Armstrong MT500.

When I put a R100 engine in my /2 rig, the biggest obstacle that I remember was having to manufacture a spacer that went between the output flange of the gearbox and the U-joint on the driveshaft.

I rode a '79 R65 for 35 years. What year is your engine?
Here is a nice FAQ page for R65s: https://www.chemie.unibas.ch/~holder/r65faq.html

Other forums that might be of some use to you are

http://www.bmwr65.org/

https://www.kleineboxer.de/forum/ This is for German-speakers, for R45s and R65s, specifically.

And I thought that there used to be a Yahoo Group that was for conversion rigs, but a quick search turned up nothing.

But don't ignore the United Sidecar Association! https://sidecar.com/

Oddball bikes? Welcome!!! :D
