No Clutch

Hi Guys,
YES i'm still around with the R90S, although I haven't ridden her in about 2 years since I got back from riding the tail of the dragon, Here's why. On the way back home from the ride I pull into a gas stop, pulled in the clutch and NO clutch. It was like the cable was broken. Did some quick throttle and downshifting to get her into neutral and coasted to the pump. Checked the cable, it was not broken. So I had to adjust the cable way out to get the clutch back which seemed to work. Hads a normal clutch again and got home without any issues. About a month later, was going to take her out for the day, Pulled in the clutch, heard a POP then no clutch again, cable still ok. So she has been parked and I haven't looked into it, (Life got in the way).

Any thoughts on what the problem might be? (Bad clutch, bad throwout bearing, broken rod)

been busy, daughter married off, reception to go. Didn't get to make any rallys this fall. I been riding the trike some.

Did the rear clutch lever fail? Cheaper, quicker and easier fix. Have a glance, fingers crossed, you might get lucky?

Because you were able to readjust some, I doubt that's it, but ....

So I would look at the rear lever to see if it looks like it's in the "normal" angle.
If so, check to make sure the adjuster on the arm is tight.
If so, look at the cable to see how much if it is "free", beyond the outer cable.
According to a picture on the Max's BMW parts fiche, the free length should be about 24cm, with a total length of 141cm.
It may be possible that it's breaking internally and "stretching".
My dad always use to tell me to check the easy stuff first.

Will be looking at all those options, went ahead and ordered all new clutch parts since its been well over 15 years since I replaced it. Also since i'm in there, going to finally replace the rear main seal (I bought the seal MANY years ago but afraid to tackle it) that has been weeping for 30 years. Will also replace the oil pump seal.

Sounds like a good plan!! I wouldn't think 15 years is enough to wear out a clutch, but you do have an Iron Butt sticker on your bike. I'm sure there's a simple explanation for the clutch problem.

Hope not, but, you could find one of the clutch actuation lever support posts broken off.

No, Thank God the posts are ok, However I did find that the pin was almost out, looks like the keeper fell off. I put the pin back in but still no clutch.
