A question came up on another forum regarding an unknown tool given to an owner...it has BMW stamped on it, but doesn't look like anything I'd ever seen. In looking around, this "mystery" tool is the unmarked tool in the first picture on Duane's page here:
https://w6rec.com/bmw-motorcycle-tool-kits-and-more/
It's flattened on one end but round on the other end. It seems that the tool is an extension to be used with either the hook wrench or the lug nut wrench.
My question, though, is the label shown on Duane's site...."R80GS and R80ST". Is that correct? Should it be R80G/S? I talked to Duane and he wasn't sure about this. The ST was built in the early 1980s and was the first of the era of single-sided swingarms. The GS was a paralever bike built later in the '80s and '90s. The G/S was built along side the ST and had a slightly longer run to the mid '80s or so.
So, what should the description be for this tool kit...GS or G/S?
Thanks...Kurt in S.A.
Tool Kit Question
Re: Tool Kit Question
G/S is similar to ST re DoM etc so probably more correct. It does look like an extension handle for the wheel nut tool.
