I had an annoying problem a few years back that involved the bike running poorly, then on one cylinder, then poor acceleration, then starting then dying 5-10kms later. I was convinced it was electrical.

It ended up being blocked fuel taps, both of them.

So, having ridden for about three weeks now and not seeming to have any issues I noticed the last time out that around 70 mph when I roll on the throttle it almost seems like I have a governor on it. It's not missing or bogging it just seems like I run out of throttle. I had noticed on the right side carb a greenish, brownish stain around where the cap meets the carb body and while it is running if I spray carb cleaner on that area the sound of the engine changes noticeably. when I removed the carb top the diaphragm was wet, presumably with carb cleaner. I can not see any holes or tears. I have owned the bike since 2007 and have never changed the diaphragms. Do they get worn over time? Any preferences for suppliers? Any that I should steer clear of?

With what you are saying, I would tend to think in terms of an air leak between the carb top and the carb body. That being said, it wouldn't hurt to check the diaphragms thoroughly, a pinhole can cause just the symptoms you decribe... in fact, it wouldn't hurt to replace them anyway. They do deteriorate with age and, if one is starting to go, then it's only a matter of rime before it splits completely. As far as which one to use, I don't know what you have available in the States but anything purchased from a reliable aithead dealer should be fine. You do need to replace them both together though. The new diaphragms will be slightly different to the old and it will be virtually impossible to achieve a good carb balance with one new and one old.

Yes I was planning on replacing both. I just see a wide range of prices on the internet . I read snowbums info and he say's to stay away from the ones Bing sells. I'll probably go with Max's even though they are more expensive but I have always received good service.
Has anyone had any experience with Boxer2valve [Wunderlich]?
