Am taking a cheap drone to Europe next month

Be very careful where you fly. Following some incidents of near misses near airports including some that were undoubtedly deliberate, the authorities are VERY sensitive about drones flying near airports and similar establishments. They will 'take them down' destructively and consider prosecuting you if you are traced. There are also a number of laws about where you can fly... they're not strongly enforced at present but you would be wise to research them before you fly, especially anywhere near habitation...

We should be wary of drones and drone flights. There will be no time I will fly it in Paris or other large city or town, any place where it is designated as a no drone fly zone, over any crowds and places which have a critical view of the small drone. The toy Tello I will take weighs in at 80 grams and 6” wide will not be flown to exceed 30 feet above. Is controlled by my IPad mini and is for private video use. If the law or others seize the drone from me if I stray or cause a fuss, at 89 dollars I can let it go.

What is intriguing is the ability to take a video or photo selfie. I want my riding fiends who said they would come but didn’t who must be made to regret not going on a slow ride on some of the best roads, finest beer and greatest food the world has to offer

Fair enough, I just wanted you to be aware that Drones aren't universally loved in the UK or the rest of Europe. Operation over any inhabited area, over any gathering of people or any private habitation, even if it isn't strictly unlawful, is likely to arouse the ire of local people. Specifically, if you intend to operate from any private land, you should always get the permission of the owner...

Not saying it doesn't happen all the time but if you want to be assured you aren't going to find your drone riddled with birdshot or yourself explaining to some irate landowner what the f*ck you think you're doing...

Amazon have been trialing it over here... I do wonder whether it makes any sense though other than as a generator of publicity. You still need your van for anything aver a few kilos and, while he's doing the round, the driver might just as well drop off the lighter stuff as well. It really comes down to whether the extra cost and time needed to split the deliveries at the depot is justified by any savings of using the drone...
