Crack the brake pipe at the master cylinder and see if you get lever travel, and brake fluid going everywhere....
If you still don't get any movement the issue is in the master cylinder. Or a mechanical interference with the lever.

It's nice to speculate, but have you ever actually experienced what you just said? I don't think anyone ever has. Theorizing is one thing, but that scenario NEVER happens in real life.
Yes, prying or pushing the piston in may have displaced a bit of loose debris, but NEVER to the extent that the (2000 lbs?) pressure from the master would not push it right back. The hard as rock lever implies a solid blockage, not a bit of loose crap in a line.
I'm sure the brake circuit will show some sign of trauma when it is carefully inspected.
Let's wait and see shall we...

Allow me to vote on an escaped O-ring in the brake cylinder.

Actually after thinking about it the situation I was thinking about was on a Kawasaki KLR where the brake stuck on, opposite of this! But I'll still hold my original bet.

Either that or he was one of those who only comes looking for advice when a problem hits and can't be bothered to let us know the outcome... Still, if he fixed the problem (whether based on info her or not) that's fine, I guess...

Just found this and yes I experienced the brake line cardiac cholesterol syndrome. And yes it blocked the line. So replaced the line with a SS one. end of problem. The PO had replaced the master cylinder and the brake caliper seals and pads then just gave up, so his loss my gain for a R75/6
