How often do we read of VSR in the pre 80 bikes? That's pretty rare isn't it? All 4 valves closing is also rare.
Has something been forgotten during reassembly that affects all valves?
At those miles it'll be an interesting resolution as the symptoms aren't "typical" for the bike.

Re: valve train problem
Yes, all four closing is rare. I just looked through my logbook on Ernst (where the pictured heads came from) and the right exhaust closed up before one check and then they both closed up on the next check. Toward the end, they'd close up simultaneously in 400 miles, which made for a bit of an adventure as I was on a 2000 mile trip. This was a 3 AM valve adjustment in Ely Nevada:
The intakes were also losing clearance toward the end, but not as quickly as the exhausts.

Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
