Timing Chain Guide Rail Nut/Bolt Torque Spec

I've read through the Clymer Manual and a BMW Service Manual, but I cannot locate where the torque spec is for the nut and bolt on the timing chain guide rail. I think it should be easy to find, but I'm coming up short on this. Can someone let me know what the torque spec is?

#13? M8x22 8.8 strength from the factory twin shock manual. The manuals should have a torque spec page in the first chapter?

BMW and most manuals only specify the torque for a specific fastener if it differs from the standard torque for that particular thread size. I don't know which edition of Clymer you are using but the table of standard torques is on page 22 in mine (1997 printing).

Thanks Steve for that table; however, I'm not sure how to interpret/read the table.

An M8 8.8 bolt/nut shows this

2.2 + 0.2
16 + 1.4

What number do you use? Sorry, but this is above my knowledge. Time to go back to school--so to speak.

My version is the 2002 printing and the general torque specs are on page X. It shows 8mm thread diameter at 14-19 Nm or 10-14 ft-lbs.

2.2 is for kilopondmeter which converts to 16 ft-lbs. Top line is mkp and bottom line is ft-lbs.

Thanks Kurt. Sorry, but I have another basic question. Do you add the 16 and 1.4 for a total of 17.4?

Out of curiosity, what is the 1.4 for?

P.S. I had to Google kilopondmeter. This stuff is outside of my current knowledge base, but it's always cool learning new stuff.

I think the 1.4 is a not to exceed number on top of the 16 ft-lbs. Sometimes you see +/- numbers to indicate a range.
