twin front disks on the bike, I was lucky with this as the bike was imported from the UK and are a factory fitment.
It doesn't really matter but... The R80/7 wasn't fitted as standard with twin front disks in Europe. You could have them fitted on the production line as a special order, some were converted by dealers/importers prior to sale and many owners 'upgraded' using new or second hand parts but they weren't a stock item. In fact BMW actually offered an upgrade kit which included the master cylinder.

The only way I can see that this might matter is in the diameter of the master cylinder. If it was converted ex the production line and without using the upgrade kit, it is possible that the original 14mm master cylinder might have been retained. If, however, you're happy with the brakes as they stand, even that isn't a real cause for worry.

Hi Rob,
That's interesting as not long ago I was talking to the original owner and he insists it was fitted with twin disks on show in the dealership in Yorkshire, when I did the rebuild I measured the Master cylinder and it is 14mm so as you say it could have been done by the dealer.
So with the twin disks what should the master cylinder size be, if I change it maybe it's an opportunity to get the handlebar unit but I have no idea where to locate one.

Still cold here and petrol has hit $3 a litre so as soon as it warms up the bike is coming out for the daily commute to and from work, I have missed riding this winter as the weather here in NZ has been so horrible this year, not something I am used to any more.

On my R80/7 I have adjusted the clutch leaver so it bites 1/2 way out, also as the spring is very old its very light too and never slips
