Is a Toaster tank possible on a R75/6

Hello I am a newbee here so thanks for accepting me.

I have restored a R75/6 1976 single owner. For me it is a keeper with its Nürburg Green colour. It proved reliable and gave me a lot of nice rides last summer. And more thumps up than Facebook ...

My question is: And I know that the quick answer is NO. I like to have the bike with a Toaster tank but since it has no drum brake in front BMW decided to hide the master cilinder under the tank. My current bigger tank leaves room for this but does a toaster tank too? I am afraid that an original /5 tank won't fit. Does aftermarket replica's have room for the brake cilinder?

Or..plan B: should i change the clumsy brake set up and move the brake cilinder to the steer?

Any advice much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Seems like you've answered your own questions. The Toaster tank probably won't fit around the master cylinder so it would be required to move to a handlebar setup. Many people seem to like that setup better anyway, but the issue is finding the right diameter of master cylinder to work with your bike.

It's amazing that one can find a Toaster tank these days. Many were destroyed when they first came out as potential buyers didn't want them. Dealers stack up the tanks by the dumpster after installing the other tank. I wasn't aware there are aftermarket Toaster tanks.

I think your bike looks wonderful as it is! That said.. If you go with handlebar MC be sure that it is small enough for the single disc. I got a too big one on my /6 and ended up with a very hard, plank-like brake feeling. a bit better respons, but the brakes still sucks..
