I have a 1982 R100 frame and I'm trying to put a center stand on it. The frame bosses have countersunk holes that are countersunk from the inside. I have a set of hardware, c-sunk bolts and the stout bushings like the ones that went onto my other airheads, 1983, 1984 R100s. On my other bikes, the bushing indexes into a counterbored recess in the outside of the frame boss. The differences in this frame's bosses is that they look to be made for a larger countersunk bolt and they do not have a recess for the bushing to fit into. This makes the bushing at least 1/8" too wide and the bolt head and shaft are obviously not the ones the frame was made for. By the way everything looks, it is not a wear issue.
I bought the kit I have new from a BMW dealer and the parts man said that according to the part #s, it should fit several years on both sides of 1982.
In other words, has anybody seen a different (bigger bolt, thinner spacer) style of bushing/bolt kit for R100s?
Thanks, Chuey

Re: center stand bolts
Fifty people looked at this and no one knows about a different set of center stand hardware?

Re: center stand bolts
I can't be of much help on the new and improved 80s Airheads, but did you check the parts numbers at Max BMW http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/fiche.aspx to see what the parts you got are supposed to fit or for the numbers you need?
At least it would give you something to do until someone comes along with an answer.

1. up to 1980, 46521235511 HEX BOLT (to 09/80) 46521235511 was superseded by 46529903520.
2. b/w 80 and 82 (+ 84 I guess) 46522302046 COUNTERSUNK HEAD SCREW - M10X30 (from 09/80)
or 3. post 88 07119900826 COUNTERSUNK HEAD SCREW - M10X30
for the RS.
The fiche show the same dimensions post 80, but the pix & pn's differ.

Re: center stand bolts
Thanks Steve. I had just checked realoem.com and the Max site confirmed that there used to be two widths of spacer but now only the wider one is available. The deeper recess for the head of the bolt and the larger hole still puzzles me. My instincts tell me it is for a larger bolt/nut.

Number of replies by original poster record is happening right before your eyes. Only two other posts on this question, and three from me, now four. I have decided that the issue can't control me so I upfixed it real good. I will post some pictures of what I did within the next few days. I really like how it came out.

Hey Scot, are you welding for work? I worked two and a half weeks before Christmas for a small firm making highway bridge railings. I was welding the railing connectors.
5 ft. of 5/16" corner to corner fillet weld on every connector x about 400 units.
That's about 2,000 ft of weld!
At least I was using 1.2mm wire on the mig
It can be a lonely world in that weld pool
