If my memory serves...
exhaust is 1 flat (of the six) out from 0 clearance,
intake 1/2 flat out.
I think the thread pitch is 1.0 mm or 40 thou.
1/6 = 7 thou
1/12 = 3.5 thou.

(now help me with my f*****g carb problem.)
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Is it really such a hassle to use a feeler gauge? The hardest part is removing those two tiny nuts.
Gotta make that Allen screw conversion some day.

I have a valve stem that's a little mushroomed at it's end, and it makes using the feelers a little less accurate. Just exploring the alternatives.

I will get the 2 inlet valves replaced this year. I have 2 nice shiny Intervalves on my bench ready and waiting.

Thanks dougie. Can gspd please confirm dougie's memory? ;)

Hi Steve, I actually printed a copy of his post:

1/12 of a turn (1/2 flat) out from snug is 0.08mm
slightly more than that is fine for the intakes
1/6 of a turn (one flat) out from snug=0.16mm
slightly less than that is 00.15mm about right for exhausts

Running the valves alittle tighter just means more frequent checks.
The tighter the valves, the quieter and smoother it will run.
Tight is not a problem as long as there is some clearance.

Thank you. I'll save it myself I think.

Matt, you got a (local) source for those screws?
Some of the above is fact, some is fiction, some is my personal imagination and some is just simple truth. [me]
