There's a new part for the actuation of the clutch. It is the "piston" that goes at the end of the actuation rod. Has anybody had any experience with the new part? Is it OK or is the older type superior?

I believe that is what my '87 has.
It is like a metal cup with the outside coated with Teflon or PTFE. Inside the cup goes a radial ball bearing.
It's all of 27 years, 120,000km old and still works.

I have one of those new ones too Doug. 30 years old and Ive not replaced either the bearing or the piston.

This one appears to be strong dark grey plastic. It's about 7/8" long and has a captive piece of metal at one end and at the other, a small bearing is pressed in flush. It takes a specific shaft and I have that ordered. The bearing seems small for the job. That's why I asked.
