Whats the best or only way to remove push-rod tubes from the barrel ?

This is from Snowbum... never did this myself, but no one is chiming in.

The easiest way I've found is to grip them right above the seal stop ring with a pair of vise-grips, heat the cylinder around the tube, and hammer smartly (never hammer dumbly) on the vise-grips to knock the tubes out. Try to go nice and straight, and don't crush the tube. They ought to come out pretty easily.
He says that you should note the depth that they're installed to first.
He also strongly cautions you not to do this unless you really have to do it, as it's a PIA.
Install is basically, chamfer the hole in the cylinder, freeze the tubes, heat the cylinder, and drive them in using the front axle as a mandrel.
I was just summarizing his article... no personal experience on this.

For my R69S, Vech at Bench Mark Works sells a drift that is designed to move the tubes to their proper position in the head. On the /2, you actually install the head/cylinder with the tubes short of their mark. Then using the drift, tap them down until you get the proper squeeze on the seal.
Oak Okleshen made reference to some dimensions to know where to position the tubes in the head prior to bolting a /5-on into place. Once torqued down, there would be proper compression in the seals. Also, knowing where they are at the start makes good sense.

Huckey's sells the correct size drifts 71 11 0 000 002 for 16mm $18 or 71 11 0 000 003 for 18mm $18.
