Monolever final drive...

Post by dougie »

Has anyone here rebuilt a Monolever final drive themself?
Am I nuts to consider it?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Someone posted a link showing an R80ST drive being shimmed a while back. Hopefully that will resurface.

I haven't done one but a friend did. He used a uni joint from the steering column of a DAF truck. Was still going strong years later when he sold the bike.

I believe you are thinking of the driveshaft. I am asking about the final drive (rear bevel drive).

Thanks Garnet.
All I get is a photo of him cleaning a gasket away.

click on the blue words "The BMW R80ST" at the top of the page, or just hit "Next" on the right of the page to cycle through the large versions of the pictures.

I did that. Still no "how to" about a bevel drive. Just pictures of bikes.
