Last time I bled the system on my G/S it wouldn't respond to bleeding until I removed the caliper and wedged the pistons hard back in the caliper with a couple of timber folding wedges, then bled it with the pistons full back.
Rock solid first try.

G'day fellas,

Well it finally happened last night, lately things around the house like bike maintenance seem to be taking forever to get done......Anyways I went out to the shed and pulled the old original front brake lines off and replace with steellined ones that Steve for Dubbo had passed onto SteveD in who kindly passed them onto to myself to use, yes please and yes I now have.
I bled them up nicely and all is working well and although I have not yet ridden the bike, at the lever they feel quite firm.

One of the lines, the right one when looking over the screen from the riding position took a heap of shifting with the ringy's and spanners, was so stubborn and took ages to work loose, this was the top thread on the hose near the fairing, but we got there without any damage to the bike and surrounding areas  I have a habit of cracking the shits and letting things fly when it comes to stubborn nuts and bolts

On the weekend the rear line will be replaced at this stage, well that is the plan anyway.

Have a good one and enjoy ya day
Cheers, Grant

Give a go Grant!

Did mine last week. Changed to SS on rear plus new brake pads etc..first time around it was mush for quite a while then tried the suggestion of of one of the inmates by removing rear caliper and turning it around etc then oriented the bleed valve to vertical plane (pointing upward) then left it in that position o'nite...voila...one more minor bleed and she was there. I did threaten her with a big frikin' syringe that I said I would be shoving up her arse the next day if plan A didn't work :o ....she got the message.

Did fronts the next day after MC rebuild...convential bleed...came around about 95% then remmebered idea to tilt the splitter up by removing clamp on backbone...got afew more burps after that and it was there after one more bleed...yowser

I do think that big frikin' syringe thing works..I just layed it on the work bench beside her...she knew what was going to happen if she didn't behave

Seriuosly, the reverse bleed that Steve talked about makes a lot of sense as it would pushing probably most of the air out with more fluid pressure than gravity...I didn't have all the right stuff to do it but was ready to run to TSC if I had to. The only syringe I had was what I used on the old farm for antibiotic injections...it used to scare the shit out of the cattle so I can imagine what the Tuetonic miss was thinking!

OK, onto to the steering head bearings...pushrod tubes, etc etc
OK

Gidday Moosehead,

All good your end then I see, good going!!

I just bled my fronts up normal, alternating from one side to the other and I just kept on pumping the fluid through until no more bubbles and then I did what SteveD suggested last night on the "bat phone" when we were talking and this was a little while after I had rang young Mr Jeffery Knox up and had a chat with him about it just to get a confidence levels up and flowing nice and strong.......... :?

After the bled the brakes I left the MC cover on the handlebars just loose and tied back the front brake level about 3/4 and left it like that all night :? SteveD said its good for the pumpkins and keeps the weeds down in the lawn ;) no sorry that was the neighbour, I don't know what it does? but its worked good whatever it did?, well the bike didn't roll away overnight

I've had enough today as I'm getting my conversations confused, so don't forget the donuts for the meeting and tell mum she can have the kids on the weekend of the 22nd.... ;)

New rear braided brake line went on fine, bleeding the brake was a little tedious but got there in the end.... :)

Marvelous man! It's all a learning curve 'ey. When you do it again in 30 years, it'll be a piece of cake.
You'll only need to take care not to dribble into the master cylinder.

That explains why I wear my bandana around my neck now (like a cowboy) rather than around my head ( a la Willie Nelson)...I always thought it was sweat dropping into the M/C but, I stand corrected...its dribble!

Geez, in another 30 years have to do it again :o ....wait I'll be 95...
