Last autumn: ticketed for 55 in a one month old 45 zone, verrrrrrrry rural road, radar at the bottom of a long hill, me actually coasting...in a car. Complete act of revenue enhancement borne out by the subsequent "trial" wherein every similar case had charges reduced,BUT, the fine remained the same.
Interestingly, my road was zoned 35mph this Spring which is kinda nice since previously the unposted=55 which really became 65-70 was, simply, ridiculous. 35,though, is slooooooooooooow.
The speedometer: as per the flashing "YOUR SPEED IS XX" units my RS is dead-on, the /7 is 8mph or so overconfident.
Though I'm sure no-one who knew me in my younger days would believe it, I am now more inclined to simply pull over and wave you by.

5ks over, the same week, on the same road, but different spots! New fixed cameras.

Yes and no. I have been written up at 5 over –gspd wrote:BTW - I never got a ticket for going only 5-10mph over the limit. Have any of you guys?
but I was not going 5 over ... or even 10 over ...
Must just be my good nature that prompts cops to write a recorded 25 to 30 over
in a 55, 65, or 70 ... as a 5 over.
Those kinds of excesses in a residential will be a whole different ball of wax,
and I strictly obey speeds on res roads as a matter of safety –
unpredictable kids, dogs, deer, people partying on the beaches ...
My last accident was in a residential at night, doing the speed,
a dog ran behind the light of my headlight and into the front wheel.
We all 3 went assholes and teacups – the RS's plastic & valve covers were the only injuries.
(ATGATT for me, the (ain't it ironic) German Short-Haired Pointer was just lucky).
In most states, it seems, unless the cop is on the rag, filling his quota, bucking for pats on the back,
or there have been complaints from the citizens in the area,
moving at 5 to 10 over on the highway is common and a relatively small risk as far as citations go.
ONTARIO, NOT A JOKE!
But it's only if there's a cop around.

Actually I am not much concerned about Ontario's speed-trap frenzygspd wrote: But it's only if there's a cop around.
as I am no longer "allowed" into Canada (ten year law for convicted felons) ...
and as far as Michigan is concerned –
the state doesn't even have enough money to keep cops on the street !
