Just a short ride to see some antique bikes and cars

This was actually a few weeks ago, but bear with me. The day broke clear and blue, promising pleasant riding weather, and because it was "kona weather" there was very little wind. I met up with a few of my friends in North Kohala and headed over the Kohala Mountains to Waimea. Here we are at the scenic lookout. Not too much of a view because of the volcanic haze: Image We stopped at the Waimea Starbucks for coffee, and then headed off to Waikoloa where my friend Hap was going to buy/pick up two British motorcycles. The first, a 1970s Triumph, was a runner. Started on first kick every time, a sweet little machine: Image Image ... and a BSA with an electrical problem (battery dead): Image Hap picked up both of these bikes for $4000 and some koa wood. Hap is one happy guy! Image

Then we rode down to the King Shops at Waikoloa Resort, where they have a small vintage auto museum. It's unique in that all of the cars are for sale. Members of the local vintage auto club can display and advertise their cars here. They had some nice custom rods: Image and some very cool custom VWs: Image Image Image Also represented were some nicely restored American muscle cars. My favorite the Dodge Charger: Image ...and even a VW powered Ferrari replica: Image oops, how did she get in here? Ferrari replica, I think: Image See more at: http://www.pbase.com/bamboo812/volkswagen&page=all Hope you enjoyed!
