I went to the museum last year and I was blown away, they have over 1200 bikes and MOST of them could go from the museum floor to rolling down the road in an hour! (this really impresses me, "show-only" motorcycles make me mad). This event is HUGE and growing, the "Century race" is limited to bikes that are 100 years old, the "Wall of Death" will be there, huge swap-meet, Airshow (Vintage Planes), a gorgeous facility and Unclviny!
October 8, 9 and 10 in Leeds, Alabama (between Birmingham and Talladega).

Oh, your first post... and you beat me to the punch.
Todd and I are going (I hope I'm right) For Sure!
We've been for the past few years and love it.
You're missing part of the fun if you are not camping there.
The Smokeys, and Blueridge are close by too.
I'm going to take a week this time and spend more time around the Cherohala Skyway.
I have a new camera and there was a lot I missed out on last time.

I did not even notice my post-count, I guess it started over with the new forum.
Barbers has been on my mind, I have already left as I'm working on a project in NW Louisiana and leaving here for there so my "rally-stuff" is in my Motel room. I MIGHT! get to make the Lake O' the Pines rally the weekend before and if I do I'm going to stop by Bench Mark Works on the way to Barbers (it depends, this project COULD finish early).

Re: Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama
Howdy all. I will be at Barber this year. We will be flying the Boxerworks flag as well. I'm not sure where I'll be set up as I couldn't getmy old spots back this year simply because I couldn't afford it after everything thats happened since Barber last year. As some of you know Maria Adams died while Barber Vintage Fest was going on last year. This year will be one year since her death & some friends and associates will gather at our vendor spot for a quiet little memorial to her during the event.
Last year some "other" vendor at Barber was claiming to be Boxerworks all the while knowing that Maria Adams, the other half of Boxerworks was lying in a hospital bed dying and telling people that he didn't know where I was(or worse) even after talking with me on the phone and knowing the tragic details. I don't intend to make a big deal of it but I have heard from several people that they received a less than friendly reaction when inquiring about my whereabouts at barber last year and I'd like to hear about it if you experienced something similar.
This year I intend to bring some parts to sell but instead of vending full time I do want to see some of the action SO i intend to camp with my pals from the Poverty Riders International club, maybe see some racing action and do the same things the regular spectators do... HAVE SOME FUN! Ive been to Barber every year except last year & pretty much never walked away from my vendor spots the entire time.
One thing Ive always wanted to do is get one of the tables at the special dinner they have in the museum. Its expensive but sounds way fun. IF anyone here is interested in going let me know. we can get get a collection & reserve a table for whomever/whatever the presentation is this year.
thanks,
Matt

benefit dinner at Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama

here is the link to the benefit dinner at Barber this year. No word of who or what is going to take place this year but it sounded awesome in years past. It ain't cheap but if any of you want to go I think a table is $1200 & seats 6-10...something like that.

Re: Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama
Matt,
I have been thinking HARD about attending the Dinner, let's hope we can get it under $200.00 a head (that might be too rich for me). I am not bringing any stuff to sell as I feel like I have missed a lot of rallies I went to because I was chained to a table!
I was originally thinking that Barbers would be the debut of my restored R2 but the restoration has been unavoidably delayed a little bit so Vech's rally in April will be the debut (I hope!).

cool! I hope to have one of the sweetest original paint r69s I've ever seen at barbers. Tell us about your R2 & I so know what you mean about chained to a table.
Lets see if we can round up a few more heads...

Re: Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama
There is an R69 in Oklahoma City with around 8,000 miles on it!, I did not even ask what he wanted for it.
The 1936 R2 (Serie 5) followed me home about 10 years ago, it was missing a bunch of pieces. I got a parts book and slowly collected the missing stuff. I noticed that they were selling for more and more so I decided to have it restored about 3 years ago. Halloween will be 2 years that it has been at Todd's (OKC, OK) being restored. It is Certified matching numbers by the Historic Archiv and according to the R2 registry (that's me) it is the latest R2 left.
Until I win the Lottery this might be the last BMW, it has been SHOCKINGLY expensive! (but I have my Eye on a nice /5, actually there are 2 of them), Gulf Coast BMW/British USA in Houston has them on the floor (713)944-7951. With British bikes close enough is good enough but early BMW's have to be CORRECT and correct is big-bucks!

Notice the shiny, new Gascap?, you simply would NOT believe how much that hand-hammered-Jewel cost me!

Re: Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama
Matt,
Dinner tickets are $125.00 each or 8 for $1,700.00.
The guest is Sir John Surtees.
The downloadable ticket form is on the website or you can call them.
I can afford a single seat but I can not afford to be part of a table ($212.50 each).

Re: Barber Vintage Festival in Leeds, Alabama
I got my money in for the fancy Dinner and I have my confirmation, I am using Barbers as an incentive to reach my target weight-loss-wise, so far I have lost 91 Pounds and I want to be at 103 at Barbers.
