Took me the better part of 1/2 an hour to get everything 'just so' to where the sliders would not bind and the axle would slid in and out easily. There can definitely be binding if you don't pay close attention as you tighten down the clamp screws and/or two main bolts.
Now I know, it's not as simple easy as it's been said to be.
What were the specs of the flatness and parallelness? Checking the slider action and axle slide is the end result, not the proof of a fork in alignment.

A fork in alignment will have smooth sliders and axle insertion.

Having smooth sliders and axle insertion does not mean that the forks are in alignment.

I think smooth sliders and smooth axle insertion are largely a matter of consent. (Speaking metaphorically, of course.)

Unless one has a great deal of experience with suspension tuning, it's amazing how easily you can be fooled about which end is creating a problem, or working better. IOW's, since you changed both ends at once, it's almost impossible for you to know what did what.
I tuned my suspension to Bb Major,
Works a treat.
The proper way to punctuate the note to Major Softie in this case would have been: I tuned my suspension to Bb, Major. Or, if you want to avoid confusion with Bb minor, you could have written "Bb major, Major." A minor detail but I point this out in order to avoid it becoming a major issue.

Since it took me a little pondering to get that one, it was very funny to me by the time I did get it. I kept thinking, "why am I a "pound" guy?" Good one ME109!
