Got my new wheel from Woody's!

Okay, now we're in business. The wheel came in today from Woody's...looks great, and there's plenty of clearance...maybe 8-10mm between spokes and calipers. Now I just need to get the brake lines made up. I called Works, who I've gotten most of my suspension stuff from on this bike and all my others, and they're going to swap the kit I had purchased (but never installed) for the R90 forks for the set needed to fit the new K100RS front end. Something I've been thinking about though is that from what I've gathered the K100RS is about 100 lbs (45kg) heavier than the R90...I have to figure out what to tell them for the spring rate needed. Any thoughts on this? I know it's going to be somewhat of a shot in the dark, but if I weigh 220lbs in gear, and consider the added weight of the doner bike versus the lighter R90, I'm thinking of maybe splitting the difference and ordering the spring kit as though I was about 170 or so on a K100RS. I realize there is ALOT more to it than that, but I need to pick a good starting point.

Shouldn't Works be able to suggest a rate for you ?
My thought is that your calculation to compensate for the difference in bike weights
should put you in the ball park.

Hey, look. I never said this was a high dollar, show quality project here! I have no less than three (3) bike in various stages of disrepair at the moment. Add to that pile a floating trailer-boat-frankenstein project, a '64 Chevy truck in constant work, and the fact that I now have to turn my bike shop into a woodshop to build a crib (unexpected, but pleasant surprise-it's a girl:) and I figure I'm allowed the occasional coffee cup on a seat. The claw hammer, well- I know it's not proper, but I use that thing for all sorts of cringe-inducing problems. "It slices, it dices..."

Getting close to done with this front end swap. Mounted the new tire on the wheel and went through the forks; they were in pretty good shape save for dirty oil. Threw in a new set of fork seals to be safe, and went through the calipers as well, replacing o-rings and whatnot. I couldn't figure out a way to get the cap off the forks to pull the springs from the top...anyone have any experience with '85 K100RS forks? I ended up gutting them from the bottom, which worked well enough, but it'd be nice to figure out a way to swap fork springs w/out fully disassemble the forks.

I just kinda set the fender on there to get measurments for the brake lines. In the end, I bought some metric pre-made hard lines with the proper bubble flares. I'll have to use SAE fittings on the three-way T, since I couldn't find one in metric, and I'll be able to re-use the R90's braided steel line from the T up to the M/C. I'm anxious to get this thing back on the road!

Have you sorted out yet what you will be using to mount the headlamp and the indicators?
