A visual inspection shows no chunks down by the lifters and they look unmarred, from what I can see.

Snowbum says that you'll find the needles and others in the valve cover.

I wonder if some PO just dumped them and didn't wonder what they were.

Aside from your problems with the rocker arms, you mentioned rerlier that you straightened the nose threads at the end of the camshaft? Please be careful doing that , the tip at the end of the cam is really fragile,if you snap it off ,you`re in more trouble than you need about now. I believe that all the Bings I`ve ever used had the float needle at the second notch from the top. Be cautious there too, the needle is retained by a tiny clip , the needle turns 90 ' & then pulls out. I`ve seen (and done) damage to that little retainer clip.

Isn't there a drain passage at the top of the lifter bores for oil to get back into the pan? I think it is big enough for the rollers to slide right down into the pan.

For what it is worth the Bing book says that R 75/5 though R 100/7 the needle is in the third position from the top. The R 90/6 is listed as position two. Thats for the 64/32/11-12 & 64/32/311-312 carbs.

Dang that is some messed up rocker pic's. Glad its not one of mine ;)
