I think it may be time to squirt a bit of grease into the RS's swinging fork.
Prising off the caps , and perusing Haynes, leaves me no wiser.
Do I need some sort of special grease nipple, or gun ?

We Yanks have a nice little gadget for lubing the swingarm bearing at the local Auto Zone Pep Boys or other place that sells the little grease gun
usually a few gadgets on the rack around the item one with a rubber tip pointer easly pumps your favorite grease into the bearing

Re: Swinging fork lube.
A chainsaw shop will have/sell you a grease gun that will work. Just ask them what they use to lube the sprocket at the end of the bar.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
Re: Swinging fork lube.
Motobins have a gizmo that plugs onto the end of a standard grease gun.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: Swinging fork lube.

You remove the Zerk fitting from your grease gun and put this in it's place.

That is one that I prefer, but right now I have a much larger one that has a Zerk fitting on the back side to fit right on the grease gun. The one above is more compact and with fewer moving parts. Simpla Fi.

The swingarm pivot bolts are hollow for a reason.
You shove the grease gun (with the proper tip) to the end where you would normally put your 6mm allen wrench and
have at it until you start to see grease coming past the seal.
When you're done, wipe off the excess and bobs yer uncle.
Re: Swinging fork lube.
It's all good, until you realize the plate behind the bearing on the left side has rusted through, and you've pumped a tube of grease (or two) into it...wirewrkr wrote:no.lrz wrote:Swing-arm? It's more of a re-pack situation,no?

Re: Swinging fork lube.
Well. thanks for the tips regarding the tip that I need, I've managed to fettle one side, inserting a rubber washer between the metal faces.
The other needs a better rubber seal. I'm looking for a very small O ring.
Or something.

PS Big explosion in Cern today. Apparently, a waitress carrying a tray of pasta, collided with a plate of anti-pasta ...
