Slime pump/air mattress

Post by michael »

Just wondering if I can inflate an air mattress with the little Slime pump I carry for tire repair. Anyone here done that? Would I need a special fitting? Thanks

Can't answer that because I don't know what a "Slime" pump is. Air mattresses need a lot of volume and not much pressure. Most vehicle pumps will take a long time to pump up such a large chamber.

I thought Michael meant blowing the mattress up by mouth, until I read pumping the tyre with the 'slime pump'
As Chuey says, high pressure pumps will take eons to pump it up. There are small 12 volt mattress pumps available from camping stores.

Saw my next inflatable mattress in a camping store today, excellent everything with a built in bladder style hand pump.

I have a Slime brand tire pump but I don't have an air mattress. My Thermorest inflates by itself.

Yeah, Walmart sells a 20 dollar 12 volt air compressor. Here's one with extra junk.....

Here's maybe a better one, looks smaller too, small enough to keep intact...

A many years old thread goes over to buy one, strip it out of its bulky plastic body for compact carry along. I did that and have it for long trips. Works great on my army air mattress with a homemade adapter.
