In 1970 i saw an episode in India, an american woman was blaming an indian boy of stealing her necklace. The hotel staff had caught him and the police came. they proceeded to whip him and I told the lady that me and a few of us would pay her so they stop beating the boy. The husband came by and said that the jewellery was upstairs and that he had hidden it. This boy meanwhile had been beaten with a sjambokk and had an open wound on his thigh and had to drag himself along.
Nobody gave him so much as a sorry and he would not take help from us as he said the police will beat him more to steal it.
I was so mad at that lady and I called he all the names I could think of and asked to pay him a 100 dollars as compensation. She never did.

Yep ,I saw more violence in Southern India than I've seen in all my days here . Usually servants getting a beating .

Today it was fried vercimelli with an indian muslim touch. The meat was lamb, halal of course and Shitake mushrooms, wooden ears, beansprouts, chinese chives and tiger prawns. The main spice was curry powder, garlic and ginger.
Two years ago i bought me a gas oven in Romania for a 1/4 of the price here and threw out my electric stove as soon as I came home. Better for wok cooking.

My specialty is toaster oven frozen fish sticks served with nuked frozen peas. When it comes to cooking I truly suck, I always have something else I'd much rather do. I'm so bad, that when I lived alone, I would just eat raw organic veggies and tofu just to keep the lights on. Zombie Mistress was born and raised in Southern India. Now I'm in Dosa heaven, and her curries?....forget about it.

Indian. You got it goin' on!

Hi Indian, and there I thought the "sambok" only exists around here in South Africa...Anyways we always eat some good Indian curry in Durban Natal or nowadays KZN.
Will definitely ad you on facebook if I get a chance.
Wen I joined boxerworks in 2008 you left for a while, but I was lucky to meet Airhead (not in person though) and some other old timers still around here ;) :D

They have the cambuk in Asia and the kubota or something like that further north in Africa all the way to Egypt. I have a sjambok in my car always. I bought this from the UK. Cold Steel UK.
I hope I never have to use it one day but the gypsies are getting to be a pia. they hang all sorts of fake jewellry on your neck and make off with your wallet in the confusion.
Just last weekend a guy here was physically stopped by two romanian gypsy women carrying a baby each. He could not just run over them so he stopped. They went into his car trying to sell him jewellery and when he finally got them out of the car, his wallet with 4000 dollars was missing.
These two ladies would deserve a whipping.

SteveD wrote:Who could forget Indians curry recipe? Cooked, then frozen and slowly thawed in a billy over a camp fire...delicious and warms the body right thru to the core! Supremely simple.
www.indian.no wrote:1 kg Chicken cut into 8 pieces Any kind of meats can be used
1 can of crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 large onion sliced
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
5 large potatoes quartered
Olive oil or butter for frying
Salt to taste
2 cups Basmati rice

Rinse the rice until the water runs clear. Add 3 cups of water 1.0/1.5 Rice/Water. Bring to boil and let simmer until done, about 20 minuttes.

In a wok or caserole fry the onions until transparent. Remove and set aside. Next add the crushed garlic and fry the chicken pieces on high heat for about 5 minuttes. Add the curry powder lower the heat and continue frying until the fat separates from the meat. Add the onions and the tomatoes and fry a few minuttes. Add water to the level of the chicken. Add the potatoes and boil until half the fluid has evaporated and lower heat and simmer until done. The potatoes when cooked will thicken the gravy and you just need to cook a little more if the gravy is too thin. Let the edges of the potatoes start to break up. If too thick, just add some water. Time: about 30 minuttes
Forget the garlic if you dont like that. The curry powder can be replaced by a handfull of dried Oregano but lower the heat to prevent burning.
This is my basic recipe and the chicken can be replaced with any kind of meat, pork, beef, mutton or even your neighbours dog.:)
we had this meal at Ken's rally a few years ago, It was very good, would probably been better if Indian had been there in person to cook it for us him self.
