I would think it does make a difference as 55cc's creates a pre-determined level in the float bowl. FWIW, I find that the 55cc measurement to work just fine. To me, it's a much more accurate method of determining how much fuel is in each bowl.

Still leaking. I've got one more new ring gasket. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to use some sealer.

All that matters is the actual fuel level. Measuring the amount of fuel in the bowl can give accurate results, but only if everything else is perfectly to spec. Thicker or multiple gaskets increase the volume of the bowl, which means the same amount of fuel will now result in a lower fuel level. Heavier floats displace more fuel, which will mean a higher fuel level with the same amount of fuel. That's why I much prefer systems that show you the actual level: that allows you to get the fuel level perfect regardless of whether or not everything else is perfectly to spec.

Major, you've changed my opinion. But since my R90s is running pretty sweet at 55cc's per bowl, I'll leave it for now.
Going down the road at 55mph, with the fuel sloshing around during cornering, braking, accelaration, how precise does the fuel level have to be? There's no slosh baffle to keep the fuel from moving around. Just wondering. I know fuel level is deemed critical, but real world situations have me thinking a little differently.

If you have the original 90S carbs I think the 55ml trick works OK. My later style carbs require close to 60ml to be at the right level. The bigger nut seems to be where the extra volume comes from, can't say if the bowl has more volume or not.
I think the Dellorto aproved 18mm measurment is the safe way to go. Definately more sensitive to level than Bings are.
